Good day, NACW, a return to the Charitable Puzzle has yielded some great results. I’m now 136 out of 140. For the following 6, I’m not seeking answers, but just some help with the starting letters, thanks.
5C       ????IEU??????
6C       ?YTH??
14C     ???INE??
30C      ??OSE  (BROSE )
37C      ???LEA? ( FLYLEAF )

Matakari, I've been out all day, and have just seen your request, on the other thread. Glad you started another, glad other ABers came to your rescue!

Closing date 5th February 2025.

Been out for 2 days!

Think you have the wrong quiz Gill I don't know what this one is though

Sorry Gill just checked and you are right

It's the right one,smouse.

Gordon Gray's comes out on 8th december annually. I'm enjoying it as usual.

Thanks for the closing date info, Gill. I didn't even look when I did the puzzle, I was just looking to fill my morning!

Thanks, jj109 and NACW, I’m toying with 14 which I’ll soon get. This last one slipped ne for the starting letter:

19C =    ( ???eke? )

And a confirmation for 8B = B (Beehive? )

Matakari, 19 begins with an H.  You've got two months to get 14...

PS Yes to the Beehive - why are you unsure?

5th February 2025 closing date?

Crikey, must hurry mine too!

(Surely you have time between now and then to find answers.....it's a competition not a speed race)

Question Author

Thanks, NACW, I just got 19 and I can relax now with a cold beer till I get 14, hihihih!

Thanks, Matakari. Do you enter only if you've got all the answers? Have you ever won?

Question Author

Yes, NACW, I always aim to send in a complete puzzle and a donation too. I've never won, but there is a lot of pleasure in doing it and making a contribution. I still have a lot of time to read over this one to ensure that I have all the right answers.

When you send it in you can compare your score over 5, 10 years etc Doesn't it seem wrong that it is not all your own work

Thanks, Matakari. As the setter encourages people to enter even if they haven't got all the answers, I do think it's a little greedy that you use other people's answers to increase your chances of winning!  Joe Bloggs could have  done 95% of the puzzle on his own, but your assisted answer will have a better chance of winning. Still, we're all different...

JJ109 and NACW, I’m pleased that this puzzle was quite Matakari-friendly as I did not have to request answers except for a few  beginning letters that eluded me. My puzzle sheet is now complete save for a final homophone at 14C ( H???INE?? ) for which I would appreciate some help. At this time of the year, I hasten to complete all puzzles as early as possible since I travel, and quite often I do not have easy access to the facilities of the Internet. Many thanks!

Happiness?

When I have all 120 words, as I almost have, what else do I need to do? I don't understand the 6,7,7 and columns bit.

Thanks, Matakari. Yes, I know you needed help with only 6 or so answers, which obviously would help greatly with the theme - but it seemed a bit of a shame to ask so soon! I'm sure you'll have some access to the Internet between now and February. If not, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
