They've said an ISIS flag was found in the vehicle, and that they're investigating potential affiliations and associations with terrorist organisations.  To be honest I don't know what else you expect them to say.

Question Author

They've been skirting around it all day. It's an Islamic terror attrocity. First it was not a terrorist then it was, but not necessarily Islamic. The media are so afraid to report what we all know it really is.

I think that's true in this country - I don't know about the US.

Question Author

The local police initially said it was not a terrorist incident.

But the mayor said it was.

They still haven't said he was a Muslim and it was a Islamic terror attack.

I'm surprised the BBC haven't shown a picture of him in his school uniform

Question Author

"They still haven't said he was a Muslim and it was a Islamic terror attack." - indeed but we know it is.

Aren't all Islamists, Muslim ?

Seems to be that the former tends to be a subset of the latter.

Roll on Jan 20th.

07:52 yep looking forward to the second coming!

Wasn't he a veteran?

aye - an ISIS veteran!

an Army veteran and US citizen from Texas.

Jabbar had worked in various roles in the US Army, including in human resources and IT, before he was discharged. He was deployed to Afghanistan from February 2009 to January 2010.

but could have been radicalised under cover ISIS during that time...

Where he's from is irrelevant.  Islamists aren't concerned with borders or nationalities.

just part and parcel of living in a big city - according to Mayor Khan........

//an Army veteran and US citizen from Texas.//

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, definitely had is ancestors fighting at the Alimo. 🙄

Either radicalised from someone or he was a sleeper.  Bet we have planty of sleepers currently crossing the Channel.

oo I think they do know it was islamic - shams uddin is " Light of the faith"

must have been a bit of a shock to find out he was born American, and was an ex army dough-buy

Oh TTT ! you're back ! I did wonder where the usual the usual trivialising phrase " take  your pardners for the usual day-ance" had gone

it hasnt - it is still there - thank god for stability

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, definitely had his ancestors fighting at the Alimo.
