I found this

Cat's Skin: Light, warm wind on surface of sea.

Squall.

and this

Spanking: Applied to a wind, or movement of a vessel, to denote brisk and lively

Question Author

Thanks for your efforts so far, mazie and BriWrite. I think that I need a general word for the wind rather than specific names.

It needs to fit into the following clue for a place or attraction in the South Kensington part of London:

Take a nautical word for the wind <UNKNOWN>, expressing joy <IO> and type of slightly leavened Indian bread <NAN or NAAN> and stir (anagram).

All definitions are worded according to Chambers Dictionaries.

Might be BLOW.
Possibly Trade...
I've spent this afternoon looking through 3 different atlases, but so far no luck, I thought I had found something with ......... canal (3 of the letters of naan included) but no good, I will keep looking
Crofter, why "IO" for "expressing joy"?
How many letters crofter, you've got me interested now?

I've been looking at some nautical sites and Squall seems to be the most common reference to a wind

Question Author

Hi mike. To begin, I believe that this "IO" is used in the same way as "Hi Ho" (as used by The Lone Ranger and Seven Dwarves).

The next thing to understand is that this Quiz uses definitions straight out of Chambers Dictionary. Looking up Naan or Nan we read: "a type of slightly leavened bread, as baked in India and Pakistan". This is exactly as in the clue.

Whilst looking up names of moons and asteroids, I came across the following entry by chance: io, "of invocation, or expressing joy or triumph or grief." It is not a certainty by any means, but it is likely that the setter of this Quiz needs the anagram to contain the obscure word io.

I have been exploring things about PADDINGTON, as it contains the words IO and NAN - but with no success!

Question Author

geo0939 As with other Quizzes, we don't know how many letters in the answer. I first got hooked helping out olivia. The Quiz starts at Matlock and visits 100+ places before arriving back in Matlock 7 days later!

It begins 1. Coaster, clench =MAT+ LOCK

2.Take to kill and something to restrain the hair then mix = TANSLEY (anagram of SLAY + NET)

And so the journey moves south to London!

I dont know why but I think think the answer is the

whoops!

Victoria and Albert

as with you Mazie, I dont know why but I'm working on it
crofter I have just realised thet I havn't worked out 33 TELL LOVIG HOE, was hotel included in the answer? I did say I only needed one answer on the first page, but on checking I'm not certain of some of them 29 for instance. I have still to sort out 38, CATHEDRAS with one vowel changed and stirred. If you check the other site, I have put some information re 83, however I still need 82 and 84
Question Author

Hi olivia and mazie, Yes, I agree that Q62 and Q76 appear to have identical answers. This is also true for Q53 and Q58 - and part of Q54! (Look up the word "col") I have just noticed Q64 and Q75 as well!

I am not yet convinced about the "Victoria and Albert". ( I would be looking for TWO N's)

Q33 has HOTEL as part of the answer!

As for CATHEDRALS, bishops sit on THRONES!

As for Q82, look up the verb "to win"!

Crofter, did you work out the KNOTTY NOG anagram, I admit I got it from somewhere on the AB
at last, I have finally got the name of the Hotel at 33
Question Author
No joy yet with KNOTTY NOG and couldn't trace it on AB. Does it have Tokyo or Kyoto in the answer?
