Am I right in thinking that Rockingham Castle is in Leicestershire and the village of Rockingham is in Northants?

Thanks for any help.

you are right

. . . and Leeds Castle is in Kent while Leeds is in Yorkshire.

Both are in Northamptonshire on the OS map though the border is less than a mile away
Rockingham Castle overlooks the village (the castle is at the top of an escarpment, the village is down the A6003 hill, 1 in 12 I think) and the village is actually nearer to the Leics/Northants border.

Rockingham Railway station was in Leicestershire (or possibly even Rutland - I'm not sure which side of the A6003 it was) but it's been closed 40+ years.
Hi LeoMunro,

Living in Cottingham, which is just over a mile away from Rockingham, I can confirm that both the village of Rockingham and its castle are in Northamptonshire. The confusion arises as many of the villages in this part of the county have a Market Harborough, Leicestershire postal address!

Regarding Rockingham railway station - this was located in Leicestershire on the A6003 nearer to the village of Caldecote which itself is actually in Rutland just to confuse matters even further! The station closed on the easy to remember date of 6.6.66!

Regards.
