I've seen the postings on here on 23rd and 24th Jan. regarding this particular question, and I'm sorry it's caused so much anguish amongst you. Yes, I did indeed compile the Christmas Quiz, and in fact I compile all the quizzes for Wragby Swimming Club and have been doing so for more years than I care to remember. One occasionally makes a c0ck-up - it happens. I use a combination of hundreds of quiz books which I have accumulated over the years, and I really can't remember from which one this particular question came. However, if I come across it again I will make a note and let you know. It would be even more time-consuming than it already is if I had to cross-reference every question. As I don't know everything, I have to put my faith in the authors of the quiz books. Sorry if it spoilt the quiz for you. I did have lots and lots of good feedback from other AnswerBankers, but you can't keep everyone happy. Hope you enjoy the "U" Quiz - if you've bought a copy.

Keep up the good work Jenny.

Changing the subject slightly, I received the new quiz today but the previous one wasn't returned. I'm OK about that but I'm wondering what the answer to the 'Plashing' question was. Thanks Jenny.

Keep up the good work Big Jenny, local charities & fund raising events can not exist without the dedication of people like yourself, we all have lapses when setting quizzes, & i've found it makes for good humour when it's a live quiz.
could i have the address for copies of this quiz and how much is it?

Thanks for the direct response, Jenny. The main reason I have the user-name I do is the fact that, at one time, I was running three different weekly quizzes in three different pubs in the area. Consequently, you do not need to tell me that quiz-compilers can make mistakes!
I think 'anguish' over the question is perhaps putting it too strongly as the only part of the quiz I ever saw was the Samaritan question as posted here, so nothing was 'spoilt' for me as a result. I just wanted to know where the answer came from, simple as that.
As an oldster, the 'Bible' as far as I am concerned is the King James' Version. There are, however, lots of other more modern translations. I thought it was possible that one of those might have contained information not in the 'original'.
It seems, however, that what we had was just a standard compiler's error...I'm referring to the one who produced the book you consulted rather than you, yourself!

Good luck with the fund-raising and all power to your elbow in future quiz-setting, ma'am! Just don't take it to heart when someone quibbles over an answer. My pub-rule always was: "My answer is right as far as the quiz tonight here is concerned...end of story!"

No problem Jenny, It didn't spoil the quiz. We all put our faith in the written word and sometimes it goes wrong. It will not put me off future quizzes. All power to your elbow in the fundraising stakes.
Juliefer, my copy was returned - the "plashing" answer was walnuts.
