All depends what you mean by highest... Some of the Hawaiian islands, measured from their base under the ocean, stand taller than does Everest over its surrounding environment

there is a mountain in the ocean that dwarfs everest in size. but if you mean above sea-level, then i do believe it is everest (but alot of people still say it is K2)
