OK, have any ABers ever actually won anything decent? I'm sending off crosswords and suchlike and never seem to get anything back i.e. no big winnings for me. What's the best thing you've ever won in a competition? I've won a book twice, both times I sold it on Amazon as it turned out to be rubbish.

about 15 years ago i won a holiday to australia in the sun newspaper.

yes I won 1,000 in November 2005 and a holiday in the Woman's own worth 900 to Blackpool, included accommodation and tickets to blackpool tower, sealife and the wax works, food was included too - had a great time. Also won three piece suite in a radio competition and washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer in a local paper competition. Had several other wins as well but nothing so far this year.

Keep going and do not be despondent - something will always turn up soon.

good luck

A ferry crossing to France with 2 nights hotel - local newspaper competition. They are the ones you stand the best chance of winning.

And I know someone who won two cars (in the same competition - his and hers prizes)

Dusty won 100 on the You Magazine Crossword - trouble is I've probably spent it all on postage in an attempt to repeat the feat!
I can't even win an argument!!!
you just did mike xx ;o)
I used to send off the sat dtel gk xword every week, feeling quite pleased with myself for doing it from my own general knowledge and reference books, but without success - then I found that two thirds of the answers are usually given away on this site. Aw well...
My biggest win was two limited edition prints by Laurence Llewellyn Bowen in the YOU magazine worth 696 - trouble is they are "minging"! So I sent them to auction as even ebayers didn't want to buy them!

I won the 1500 prize for the mail on Sunday crossword a couple of years ago and I also got a runners up prize for the Sat Tel GK. I won the Bare Bones in the Mail last year but despite several emails never got the books

This question comes up on here regularly and there are a few winners.

I got a phone call at 8 this morning telling me I have won a trip for two by limo to the Brit Awards on the 15th!!!!! I'm so excited...............

Local radio and newspapers are luckiest for me, this prize was with mix 96. My only national win was 20 last year on the Daily Mail prize crossword.

Good luck to all you compers xxxx

won a DT fountain pen which I don't use & a Cross ball point both of which are quite expensive but of little use. Also runner -up book in DT GK - again of little use.Better won various book tokens totalling some 50.
yes, have won in BEST mag, 250 in CHAT mag, plus numerous runner up & little prizes! keep going , you gotta be in it to win it! good luck.
I won 200 and the 2003 Whittaker's Almanac for winning the Saturday Telegraph General Knowledge. I have also won the Times Saturday cryptic, the Observer cryptic and the Times 2004 sports Crossword.
Haven't won any crosswords or competitions but have won the Friday Daily Mail caption contest twice and Chat 60 word fiction twice but still keep trying with the Sunday Express.etc

50 with Chat, and gary baldy would approve of this one, free tickets to a Burnley game this year with Coca-Cola. Had a lovely time, and then my brother on the competition in the programme as a bonus!

Most useless prize was a year's supply of horse wormer ( I don't have a horse) which I gave away to a friend.
