Can anyone help with this please. The answer is either a fruit or a vegetable.

Could also be eggplant. Pound and a shilling is a guinea (g) inside eg for example
It could NOT be eggplant. For a start, G is not an abbreviation for guinea - and even if it were, it would lead to egg - which is not a fruit or vegetable. Why post things like this when the correct answer is clearly given?

You are right, quizmonkey. I'd missed the significance of the IF in your explanation when I posted. Realised it almost immediately.


However -- eggplant is another name for aubergine - I accept that my explanation didn't extend to the plant bit. (Cue for argument over whether it's a fruit or vegetable -+) )


I do however have a dictionary that lists g for guinea in its list of abbreviations.
