17ac and 5d answered on page 2 but people aren't too sure of 17ac. Depends on 15d.

clue for 15d is ----- Alcohol, an isomeric alcohol used as a solvent.

Perhaps I've got 15 down wrong. I though the answer was ethyl. I have ???y? in it, clue as per Jim jools above. More suggestions for 17 across welcomed

okay everyone, thanks. Now decided it's buytl alcohol and quanta. Can fill it in now.
I think 15d is Butyl and that fits with Quanta.
