I haven't got the first word of this clue either But with respect mr jackal there is something wrong with the letters since there are only 14 letters and spaces shown wheras there are 15 in the clue!

Pesky was correct as I have also said Japanese Anemone 8. 7. alistaircot if you put 8 ???????? anemone into one look dictionary it will give you this answer and says asian plant of buttercup family
