Cant get past having the corresponding words for the colours of the rainbow, they do not form a word - where do I go from here? Is it the end.............

Have you noticed how the words are placed with each letter on a different colour?

Have done this and do not get a word, have tried various alternatives e.g. red carpet red planet and have come up with nothing - any more clues please?

You are right with red planet & red carpet. So take the letter on red in both cases. Then do the same to the other words.
