My 9 year old daughter is desperate for us to sign up, but I'm concerned about the amount of info required and the level of security. I'd also like to know what an ICQ number and Aim address are supposed to be.

I shouldn't be this ignorant, but I use my computer as a word processor and reference library mainly. I only started on Answerbank through pressure from my girls, though I admit I was soon hooked.

An odd reminder about froggers once in a while is one thing, but to flood the categories with posts that are doing no more than advertising another site, I call that SPAMMING.

Drusilla 1S, I have noticed that you are an old hand at answerbank, there used to be chatterbank on here, alot of the people from here now use a new site that doesnt just answer questions, it also allows us to talk privately, suggest new ideas an is really user friendly. It wouldnt really be suitable for your nine year old .....BUT.... if she were to set up her own thread on there I am sure she would get no 'wrong..or dirty' replies and I know that my children aged 6 an 7 would love to be able to chat with someone their own age (they see me on here all the time now) also there are plenty of games, that we all compete in, VERY child friendly games, just have a look once your child is in bed...... you will lurve it. Drusilla someting dove forgot to mention was that you dont have to provide your AIM, IQC and MSN things, i onely have msn, but still didnt provide it, cos i dint want everyone knowing it (and if you want people to know it then you can always PM them and then only they can see it) and also the feature where other members can email you is disabled, so theres no need to worry about that.

1) You only need a valid email address and to think up a Username and Password to gain entry, all other details are optional (very similar to Answerbank)

2) It is an over 13 site with terms and conditions stating your over 13 that you have to tick the tickbox (i personally wouldnt recommend a 9 year old access to all of the site although there are Games on it that are more than acceptible for a 9 year old.) It is friendly but altho not Adult in content it would be classed as mature with the occasional innuendo and light swear word (bad ones are auto-filtered out) are occasionaly thrown up on the boards. I would restrict access for anyone under 16 without adult supervision.

Overall it is a great place for those that wish to join that want to let their hair down and either chat about fun irrelevant stuff, have a laugh or have important discussions on a wide range of topics and subjects. It has got child friendly areas to play games but again, I strongly only advise them entering the site with adult supervision.

Give it a try, if you dont like it then just dont bother again, if you do then welcome aboard!

Hi twig,

No one labelled you as a spammer. The people who are posting in every category on here are spamming the site. Have a look through the various topics on the left and you will see what gen2 means. No one complained when every once in a while a froggers link appeared in suggestions, but when you go into science or music or parenting and there is a random thread with nothing but a link to froggers, that's not right.

Just my opinion.
