I am told there is one and only one town/city name common to all 50 American states. Does anyone know what it is?

Springfield is a possibility, try googling it

suggests that there isn't such a name; I'd have made the same guess as don1, but apparently not so. The question is left open, though.

At a guess, Independence ?
I think I read somewhere that there were about 60 towns in USA called Fairview
Found this:
It's been said that every state in the USA has a Springfield.
This isn't true; 35 states have a Springfield or a close cousin;
but the following states are Springfield-deficient:
Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas,
Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota,
Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.
(Data from searches on MapQuest)
Might be more info on mapquest. I'd be interested to know the answer if you find it.
i was once told there are more than 50 oxfords in the US, but whether they are all in different states I don't know!
