Football Banter

Can Answerbank please set up a separate Section for football banter.

People have suggested that the sports section has become a chat site. It is an "opiniions" site.

Other sections such as the news section are about "opinions". People post questions about opinions on news topics. People seldom "break" news on there. If we want to see breaking news we will watch Sky News.

The majority of postings on the site as a whole are "opinions" and the most popular Section is the Sports section for that very reason.

This is a free site, where Answerbank gets its revenue from advertisement placements on it. Therefore, the Companies advertising on it want people to see their strategically placed advertisements...the more people seeing them the better as far as they are concerned.

A Football Banter Section could have its own specific advertisement placements which would apeal to those visiting and posting on it, and would be probably more profitable to Answerbank.

not a bad idea Zorr0. I agree re the whole issue of "opinions", and have posted something similar to that affect on Dudleys thread below this one.

As for the point that seems to be made re bickering and insults...by far the most serious and threatening insults on this site have been in News. The folk who frequent Sports by and large know what to expect re the banter and bickering, and none take it to heart. Even Dudley admittted as much after he staretd that epic yesterday! The same cannot be said about Mr and Mrs Angry of Tunbridge Wells who spend hours being outraged in news. Also, a look back throught he last 2 or 3 days worth of Sports threads actually doesn't bear out the accusation that it's all bickering and insults. Very few threads descended to that level and it was all very light and funny even when it did.

Thank you for the suggestion. We are currently discussing ways to possibly subcategorise (is that a word?!) our categories - and indeed, football stuff may necessitate their own little area.

I would tend to agree with kick3m0n on the banter v bickering argument. News, I would say is the most heated category on here - have you read any Muslim related threads lately? Most posts in News on 'heavy' topics end up being Reported whereas I rarely get Reports from the Sports section.

Saying that, great suggestion and it will give our web developer food for thought.

I agree , I don't mind the banter , but it tends to mean that important questions and interesting subjects don't get so many replies as they go to page 2 quicker.

If you took the banter out of the sports section and into it's own section there would be nothing in the sports section.

Hi Mrs Editor...as you will notice when you get to Zorros temp lockin out of AB due to his ego and wanting to hit the 200th run in the Dudley thread to go with the 100th....I have opened a new a/c as T00N.

I wish to come back as Zorr0 when he is unbarred....but can I keep T00N as a reserve for when I do it again by making too many postings in short space of time thus the system lockin me out temp.

And as this is the 2nd time in 3 weeks that Ive done this...Im sure it will happen again.

Or do I have to cancel the T00N a/c. Im amazed I cud get the name T00N on here as I was sure it wud be taken. So it wud be a waste to have to get rid of it. If I have to get rid of it i may put it up for auction on Ebay !!
