I've tried looking on Google without any luck; I would like to know if there is a site where it is possible to enter a definition so as to find a word with that meaning. Failing that and I feel stupid for not being able to remember, what word means "unable to spell" (in the same way that inarticulate means "unable to speak")?

God damnit, illiterate. I feel so bloody ignorant.

Sorry shaneystar2, didn't see your reply. Inorthography is of course correct, but I was looking for illiterate. Someone who cannot spell..."inorthographer" would seem conventional would it not, but I'm not sure.

This question arose from rather an ironic situation really - I was saying that a spell checker on MSN messenger would help to reduce _______. I couldn't for the life of me remember the word which should have followed.

Thanks for your help folks.

illiterate means you can't read or write, which is really more than just being a bad speller.

Yeah, I know that. But inorthography isn't the most commonly spoken word jno ;)

Or even inorthographic.

you're not wrong...

if you can think of words with similar meanings to the ones you're after, you could try entering one here:

Maybe not, but illiterate is an adjective whereas inorthography isn't.
I think dysorthagrapia is the word we could be looking for.

Dysgraphia means unable to write and illiterate means unable to read or write. If you cannot read or write you cannot spell. So there must be a word meaning unable to spell correctly.
Where is QM ....
