The prize of the crown of which Country is the subject of the Shakespeare play Macbeth? Can anyone help please.

My wife and I went to see it in Edinburgh last year, as far as I could make out, he (Macbeth) was given honours by the king of Scots, it was his wife that wanted the crown..................... ah got it, the subject is Lady Macbeth's greed.

Like most tragedies, JL, 'Macbeth' is about a basically 'good' man with some fatal flaw of character which leads him further and further into error until it destroys him...and much else around him. The setting in this case centres on possession of the Scottish throne, but in a sense that is incidental. That's all I was trying to say. Cheers
