For Rbind, some pointers:

43. the answer is a title of a song. the singer is an anagram of "luke a mate i"

52. google "railroad man". + what does a youg child call its father? the answer is the name of a country singer.

97.google "monarch of the road", a newspaper article reveals the answer.

Hope this helps!

Thank you to Coppins Crew for help with my answers.

For rbind, when you typed the clue to Number 97, you added a full stop (that is, you typed 97.)! The original has NO FULL STOP following the 97 - How subtle is that of the setter?

For what it's worth, I had formed LAKE TIMEAU for the anagram of "Luke, a mate I"??? and I learned that there's a lot of Off Terrain Vehicles around Timeau. I really thought I was on to something!

many thanks Sue and Crofter for your hints I may be able to move forward now.

Again a great big thank you

I have the answer to 43. It will be made available in about 3 weeks time, enough time for you to have another go at it,and in time for the closing date.

For Rbind and Crofter

Sorry, my mistake yesterday, the answer to No.43 is still the title of a song. The singer IS an anagram of "lake timeau" not "luke a mate i" as I put.

Hope you work it out now.

Hi Suel Did we liaise over Q of Q's many moons ago?

As for No 43 (and so as not to mislead) the question asks for a singer whose name is an anagram of "Luke a mate I"

In error, I created a fictitious place called LAKE TIMEAU. There is a Timeau - but it is not a lake! I had visions of earth-moving equipment as the "Mass transportation" in the question.

It follows that the singer's name is ALSO an anagram of LAKE TIMEAU as well as of LUKE A MATE I.

Suel,

what is the difference between "Luke a Mate I " and "Lake Timeau " ?

Question Author

Hi Crofter

Yes we did liaise over the Q of Qs!!

And hi to Burgess3334

No difference at all, must have had a funny 5 minutes!!!!! I wondered if anyone would notice!

Suel I meant to come back to you with an explanation as to why the answer UNIVERSE was linked to the word "Magnificent". Well, I never did get to the bottom of it! Hence, my silence.

However, I tried to trace your original posting so that I could check that you had solved the clue stating: "One's in another land" as INDONESIA and not as IMMIGRANT. Good luck with Q of Q's!

Question Author

Hi Crofter

Yes I did get Indonesia and good luck to you too!

Please could anyone give me any clues for 8, 22, 59, 66, 68 or 83? Not answers, just clues.

Spent hours on 43 trying to make an anagram out of "skywalker" and "a mate I went" - you can get "railways" from those letters which led me to believe I was on the right track but I was way out!!

Hi

8. Cockney rhyming slang for a vehicle

22. Name for an american jail minus a letter

68. Inventor of carriage 1st name Fitzroy

83. Baby transport

Hope this helps cant be sure of myy 66 or 59 to give clues as could be leading you up the garden path.

For Pepperwalker: 59 - there is an anagram in the clue!

N0.66 - 'almost time' relates to the first word in the answer and Chambers will do the rest!

Thank-you. Now have 8 - had got the rhyming slang bit but was trying to find rhymes for squeeze and grate! Will keep working on the others.
Hi Pepperwalker

8. You keep fruit preserve in it.

Hope that helps a bit more.

Thanks, I got 8 from your 1st clue. Now only four left to get. Its a good quiz this one - I do it with my mum - only managed to get 100 right once, lots of near misses tho.

Still working on 12, 22, 59 and 68. Supposed to be working on dissertation!
