AS for the swimmer I thought I had the answer - Buster "clarence" crabbe but clarence is 8 letters not 7 so am still searching.

Razza, I'd be interested to know about such a book too. This is my second attempt at completing a Rainbow Quiz and I'm finding it really hard. I'm starting to feel rather stupid! I think I need to get some practice in answering similar types of questions.

No you are not going off the RAILS another clus as to type of vehicle needed.

Keep doing them and you will eventually end up the same as some of us. Addicted.

The only thing I can recommend to be able to do this quiz,is practice on cryptic crosswords,I have been doing this quiz about 8 years now and got all 100 correct four times,my lowest score has been 96,which is not too bad,I suppose,but I do quite a few cryptic crosswords and stick at them till they are done.Good luck with the quiz.

Thanks Razza sounds encouraging. How do you cope when there appears to be more than one answer.. The up train.. for instance, do you think there is only ONE correct answer to this.. I can think of at least two

When you have 2 or more answers,look even closer at the clue,sometimes you have to do a bit of cross reference,generally works out in the end.

There is only one correct answer,but it is one I have got to do a bit of cross referencing on,Ive got my probable answer,but there is also a probability of another answer,but I am leaning 80-20 in favour of one of them,but there is another 4 weeks to decide.
