Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

7d Radiation unit? One denying using small number for time taken up (7)

Presumably RONTGEN, but the closest I can get on the wordplay is NEGATOR with N instead of T, all reversed, giving RONAGEN.

Any suggestions?

I agree with your reasoning - and can't make the clue work any better than yourself. Pretty rare for Azed to make an errror though - unless it's a typo on the part of the paper!

Yeah, this one had me scratching my brow, too. Every week, before sending the completed grid off, I scan a copy of it for use in answering others' possible AB queries later. Guess what...having taken that copy out of the desk drawer on seeing your question, I find I sent the wretched thing away with an empty slot where the 'T' should be! Clearly, 'rontgen' is the answer but the wordplay is definitely a muck-up.
It's a certainty that I won't be appearing in the list of winners this time! I hope you do.
