No dictionary has "Tendrill" although it was given as an answer last week. Some give it as coming from french, but that is "vrille'. Nearest I got was a) in a definition of Artificial Chaos created by Prof. Gerald Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog (honestly! i put "tendrill" into answer.com) or, b) as a track from "Submit" by Pitchshifter (also in answer.com

Tendrils. The question was posted wrongly. It was written to suggest a singular when it should have been plural. I contacted Mike mepham who confirmed this and pointed out that the sub editor of the Weekend supplement should have corrected it.
