Why do people change their user names ?

This as probably been asked before but why do people change their user names on here?

Why change your name we all have different opinions so is it because they can't deal with conflict. I am just curious why ? thanks

Because they feel that they can outsmart others under a new I.D. as well as not facing conflict etc

I've changed mine once inej, only because there was too much info in my old name....the city I mean...but I contacted Ed and she let me keep the same e-mail addy but with a new name.

i'm the same bez..i have changed it once but could keep my email addy.it wasnt so i could outsmart anyone and i can face conflict i just wanted a new name!! dont see the harm in that.

Good question,i think its a trait that any on line contact sites suffers from ,people become more and more aware of their self conciousness,and some become legends in their own minds,but overall i think its a british thing of not wanting undue conflict

I want to change my name as its too close to my real name,but the I would become a greenie again and nobody would believe who I really was!!

when I first joined AB I used the name pixi then had to change it cos someone managed to get into some accounts and were able to post in our names. So I changed it to aka pixi. It wasnt done secretly, everyone knows it is me

quite a few kazzies come and go here... I expect they all have the real name Mildred. Yeah, change your name kazzianne... might be helpful to announce just once, under your new name, who you are... or maybe that would just defeat the point of the exercise?

I had to change from Chapel because i was away for a while and forgot my password, so couldn't log on! Had to open new account.

hi inej, i joined as dothawkes but like pixi it was cloned in the coloured thread con, and so i changed it to djhawkes but that got temp suspended for overposting on some daft thread and so i got dot.hawkes and ed deleted djhawkes. it is my name and i know that's stupid but i always use it. There have been to date almost a dozen versions of my name turning up as imposterers and that is annoying, but they are easy to spot, they reply with just a few words, and I have never been one to use a few words when several dozen will do. Oh and they use simple lexus too, whereas I tend to be rather more complex.

yep. i changed my name a few months back as someone i know knew was me and i wished to remain anonymous. i emailed the ed and he let me keep the same email though =)

ja, you can tell the true dot by her complexus Lexus, it has lie-flat beds for driver and passenger, a fold-out vodka bar and Sky aerial on the roof.

ok guys,well I have emailed the ed asking if I can change mine and keep old email address.I will post telling you all as I dont think that will defeat the point.Just need to think of a new name now!!

i changed once...and never again. I think people change their names for a number of reasons, just want a better name, want to start afresh anonymously or they have been banned and so have to start again.....loads more answers, i think they've all been answered

I changed once because i got temp banned for overposting on that mega thread. I wasn''t keen on my old user name anyway but i changed with a different e-mail address. I don't like it when the same person keeps changing it cause you sort of feel that you're just getting to them and then, bam, they're gone. Have to get to know who they all are all over again.I felt like my head was gonna explode the other week cause i didn't know who anyone was! Too many greenies!

sorry i have changed my user name not because i want to but because my old one wouldnt let me post answers to questions or post questions to be answered. so im just the same old stylinsamxxxx
