If the first one had been CLUB (singular) then IRONIC may well fit! It would also need the whole to mean "Hard to get" and an IRON to be a small (golf) club!

These clues ARE difficult (and HARD TO GET).

So the last clue could perhaps read "Roasted DINERS" and suggest (human) SACRIFICE?

I've only just started this Guardian Genius puzzle as i'd forgotten about it until i saw this post. I would think that sacrifice is spot on. K

do you think 5 ac sail jims clue is storm jib?

"Storm Jib" looks "not bad" as a Sail, but the final letter "B" needs explaining. The rest fits well. An anagram of JIMS around "TO R(ight)" gives STORM JI ! Only the B to find!

I am half way through this months Guardian genius and one of my answers conflicts with a number of suggestions.

Actress gets leg over Victor and Mark, showing rank (7) ?

If this is correct, this means ironic, sacrifice & offerings are all wrong.

The missing "b" in "storm jib" is one of the 33 missing letters.

13ac Enshrined. Scared; Anagram of Dinners plus two missing letters "sh"

23ac Lumber? UM and ER plus missing letters "lb"

No idea what infamous group of five is - If it's a pop group count me out.
