An update on party i went to last weekend.

Hey there erm someone posted on my previous question thread (last thursday) to ask how the party went as i was worried about it.
Well I got there in the end....despite the taxi driver going round in a circle.
I was a bit ratty at the begining i was a bit blunt with an aquaintance but with the friends i was fine and met lots of other interesting people. I was worried the friends would think my job was rubbish but they were not in high flying jobs as it were.
Also chatted to a girl i liked but am rather nervous about persuing it as it would mean asking a friend of a friend for her contact details. oh well should have asked for her number or email on the night but didnt want to chat someone up at a friends party. !

hum ok will try to explain the probs:
the friend of a friend was also friends with a girl at uni who i went out with for a while when at uni just over a year ago now (graduated this time last year). Me and her didnt end up getting on.
The girl i like im really not sure...maybe it would be best to say i like her and maybe meet up, as im very nervous about rushing into things.
has been about 3 months since i split with a gf who had been seeing on and off after end of uni.
also this girl lives fair way away from me so dont know about the distance.
and i dont have many friends and am very low etc at mo so prob not best time.
but did really like her....im not being funny but she seemed kinda erm nice and sweet etc...and just not loud or other little things that i dont like.
well i know i always thing of the why not's so doubt will ask friend for her details...i just think it sounds silly to ask for a someone to get a number for me i should have done it or forget it but i cant do either...OMG ive gone on so much sorry.

Well done steve :o) I'm glad you went and from the sounds of it your glad and relieved you went too. I don't know if you rememeber me from one of your first posts (office party)? I have followed your questions and often wondered how you are getting on.
You took a big step that you should feel very proud of. It's very easy to get stuck in a rut when your feeling low and waiting for help.
You got off your own back and went! Look at it all as small steps, one by one. Your going in the right direction, well done :o)

hi steve, well either wait for another pretty girl or go for it. it aint easy i know. unfortunately im not the best for advise cos im dead forward and loud!! i find it very easy to talk to people and make freinds...hell i talk to strangers at bus stops and send them birthday cards!! lol i feel sorry that you find that part hard...could you maybe just ask for her email address and have some freindly informal chats for a while and see what happens? just a thought steve :)
yes i will try to get her email. Well i can be good with people i have just retreated inside my shell at the mo. Ive done that before chat to people on the train etc but never asked for phone number or email as would be too embarressed.
Hum interestin that you have followed my posts wingnut....thanks im amazed at your memory though think you can selct only threads from specific person but i dont know how to do that.
im so frustrated and angry at mo...with myself for how stuck i am...i dont think ive moved on that much of late...but i mean i passed my driving test first time on tuesday so thats cheered me up this week. i might go and discuss my options/feelings about work with a careers advisor at local college.

steve, are you working? im in a very fortunate position to train people in self esteem and confidence building although specifically for women. its a wonderful job with the most amazing results. my current course finished today and all 7 women have had a life changing experience (their words not mine). i wish you could do a course like that or something. i know... buy a sports car and you wont have any problem getting women or mates cos sports cars are a magnet hehe (at least where i live!!) i think you sound like a really nice honest guy :)
Thanks kaz.
Erm i dont have the money for a sports car and would not want one as im happy with a little car....im not much of a guy as in i dont like cars - its a lump of metal thats gets u from a to b!!
These courses sound goo...tho might they cost a lot? id hope there is someone that do them for men...cos there is so much stuff like that for women but men can open up etc too just not many men.

steve, the courses we have here are free. as i said they are mostly for women although i have had courses for men but they dont 'buy into it' the same as women. as you say, they open up and totally reveal themselves and their problems. im actually doing a mixed day course tomorrow but its a bit different. its about job seeking skills, interviews, letter writing etc so a bit different. you didnt say if you were working? there's an excellent package we use from Pacific Institute called Steps to Exellence/ its personal development and although very american, is very powerful..works really well with my women anyway.
hey dollie yes dad was pleased!!
i went out to drive up the motorway with him today and do the weekly shop....must have been a funny sight two men doing the shopping...though if you had looked into the trolly then it was not that healthy!!
Hows u doing neway...not seen you on here for a while...maybe ive not been on here that ,much tho been really tired with work.
Im going to have a searching day on monday with careers thoughts...if you have seen my posts on B+S then you see wardy was in the navy and im thinking about it myself i just need to sort my emotional state out!.

Hi Steve - really glad your dad was happy about your driving test - I expect that made you feel a bit better about things. I'm fine, thanks for asking. been off in Scarborough with my son and his girlfriend for three days thats why I've not been posting - they live there now. Talking about the navy Steve- wondering if now's not the right time to make a big decision like signing up for the forces. Although I know you are well aware about your psychological state and know pretty well about how you're doing and what you need to do to make changes. It would be something to talk thorugh with your counsellor, and if you still think its a good decision in a few months time when your mind is more settled - then looking into it might not be a bad move. I just think to make such big decisions at an unstable time like this is not wise. I hope you find something of interest on Monday at your careers thing. Also, I hope your counselling turns out to be just how you want it to be and that you will benefit enormously from it in time. Don't expect too much at first Steve - your counsellor will take time to get a 'history' from you and will then slowly start to help you make changes. Good luck my friend. Doll xx
