With 65,000 residents, Santa Fe is New Mexicos third largest city. It was originally settled by Spaniards before1607, and is now the oldest state capital city in the United States. I'm not sure about number 36 either, coffee100, but I'm going with S as being the first one of them to have a permanent European settlement. T was occupied by Europeans earlier but only on a temporary basis. I've come to the conclusion that part of the question (about date of becoming state capital) is a red herring.
