construction work on Sunday

Does anyone know the rules and regs regarding construction work on a Sunday, I thought they were not supposed to do it within certain hours and they are building a house next door to me and I have generators and all the associated noise going on all day ????

This permission normally includes a clause stating the allowed working hours (eg 8am to 6pm Mon to Fri, 8 am to 1pm Sat, no working on Sundays or Bank Holidays).
Contact your local authority's planning department tomorrow morning (or email them today) to enquire what hours were permitted for this development. You could also ask the contractors today what they are doing working on a Sunday morning, it doesn't sound right to me.

You have my sympathy. We are just nearing the completion of three houses being built close to us and the builders seem to have worked all the hours which God gave for the past 12 months. We have previously complained to the local Council Planning Department about all kinds of restrictions being breached including the local driveways being blocked by delivery vehicles and bulldozers. but the reality seems to be that they don't have enough staff to enforce the regulations. But the Planning Department should be the first people to contact.
Can't find anything on the construction unions web site.
I'm guessing, like every other job in this country these days,Sunday work is unfortunately allowed. I would have thought there were possibly laws that restrict unacceptible noise levels between certain hours on a Sunday. CAB advice is free, pop in and ask
