Having separated after 32years of marriage and stupidly gave up my friends and did not go out without my husband....now..I find myself wondering where I go from here..How do you get yourself out mixing with people without necessarily going to pubs.

How about doing some night classes, they don't have to be anything academic, just something you like, check out your local college of further education, the lists of courses are endless.
You could also join a voluntary group, or local dramatic society if that takes your fancy.
There are also plenty of holiday firms who cater for single persons (not club 18-30). I went with Friendship Travel this year and had a fantastic time with people I had never met. Something like this will give you more confidence in yourself and broaden your horizons, Go for it girl and good luck.

Hi, I used to run some Country Music Clubs and along time ago introduced line dancing. It is not everyones cup of tea. However you can learn to line dance, get some excercise, meet different people, and you do not need a partner. You will find alot of other single people, male and female, at some of these clubs. Pamper yourself at a health farm - they can be good for meeting people. One I went to, Grayshott Hall, had a table in the dining-room for everyone who was there alone - it was the most fun table in the room. Another great social time is a tennis holiday, but I guess you need to at least want to play
look up your old friends and see how many of them are just wishing they had someone in their life they could trust and talk to, everyone who is a grown up knows that a marriage means change and that people's priorities change, noone will be any less than delighted to be in touch with you again, don't think it is taking a step back either, one of those old misplaced friends may bring you a great future.
