These 5 phases all mean 'wish you were here' but I need to know what language are they. 1)Ddeisfyf baech'ma 2)Souhater vous etions voici 3)Onske du var her over 4)Wunsch sie wart hier 5)Augurino tu erano qui
Actually it's ..Wnschen, Sie waren hier.....not a common German phrase ....if they wanted to say... I wish you were here they would phrase it ......Ich wunsche da Sie hier waren.
Shaneystar2. I am informed that you are absolutely correct and that I should take a typing course.
One disagreement re the familiar. I'm told the last word bist (or whatever that is) is unnecessary.
Methinks we all went a long way from answering the original question with our discussion of the actual German grammar.
Well..as a native German speaker ....I would hardly say,, Ich wunsch da du heir ..That just translates as.. I wish that you here.
Germans speak back to front ..I wish you were here ..translated word for word Ich wunsch da du hier bit ..would be
I wish that you here are !!
You can of course ,also say.. Ich wunsch da du hier war.!
Don't let's be beastly to the Germans ! ( Noel Coward) :)
Danke Shaneystar2. I must say that as a native German speaker your grasp of the English language is magnificent as I see you come up with answers that even the native English speakers, myself included (if Canadians are allowed to make that claim) haven't been able to get for themselves.
