I have just got back a quiz answer sheet where the answer given to the clue "a person chosen to transact business for others " is "sindic" (my answer was surrogate)

I can't find sindic anywhere has anybody seen the word ?

Syndic..not sindic
One appointed to represent a corporation, university, or other organization in business transactions; a business agent.
