What were the names of the young sleuths,(cousins) who appeared in a series of radio plays and books in the 1940's? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
There are the cousins Titus, Timothy and Sarah-Jane that appear in a number of books. I cannot say if they were depicted in radio plays. Hope this may help.
APPEALING CHARACTERS
As cousins, Timothy, Titus, and Sarah-Jane share a special bond (and arent encumbered by sibling rivalry!). And since two of the three main characters are boys, the books appeal equally well to boys and girls. In fact, most of the fan mail comes from boys!
Elsbeth Campbell Murphy wrote her books more recently than 1940. Never read any but enjoyed the Hardy Boy Books when younger. Havent been able to find anything about 1940's series of plays. Will keep looking.
Try `The Famous Five` by Enid Blyton. They were written in the 1940`s` There are four cousinsJulie, Dick, Anne and `George` ( Georgina) and the dog Timmy.
Are you thinking of "Norman and Henry Bones, boy detectives" which I can just about remember so would have been in the late 1940's. The characters were played by Charles Hawtrey and Patricia Hayes (I think?)
JRB - Sorry I did not acknowledge your comment. I have checked with a book, the Radio Companion, and you are absolutely right. Sorry if I misled anybody.
