Every week without fail, I enter the Mail on Sunday, Sunday Express and the Big Monday Express crosswords and have done so for about 2 years. I have never won a thing and just wondered if anyone using Answerbank has
Me neither..nothing big anyway. I have won a few small prizes.Had 25 from the Skeleton a while back and a bottle of brandy for the Sportsword. We live in hope!
I must hold the record for the Sunday Express; over 25 years without a bean! But I still do it and still send in an entry every week (except hols). Calculated it's cost me over 250 in postage! Still got another 750 to go before I will have spent more than I could win!
Join the club, never won a thing in the big comps, have won the odd prize & 5 crossword in the local rag.
I suppose I should be thankful to have won that.
Are we all losers or sad or what ?
As mentioned elsewhere, I recently won a Prospect Magazine crossword. But I also do the ones you mention and have done for years. So does my sister, and we have never won anything (although she did once win some book tokens from Radio Times).
But thousands of people must go in for the crosswords in the popular newspapers every week, so I suppose it is not so surprising.
I'm just like everyone , done the Express crosswords for donkey's years with no luck . Every week my partner says " I don't know why you bother sending those off cos you never win " but my reply is that I never will if I don't do them !!!
I did win the Sunday Express Giles competition a couple of years ago though and got 100 , so I suppose I've not done too badly although I've probably spent that amount many times over on postage over the years !!
Fourteen years at the Xpress, MOS & You magazine. As my wife won a couple of small Find the Ball prizes I thought I'd try putting the crosswords in her name. You've guessed it. The very first week "she" won 25 on the You mag!!!!!!! What do you get for manslaughter these days?????????
i won the stardate competition, 250 pounds , in the sunday express s. magazine about 3 months ago when the answer was kate blanchett. the cheque took about 10 weeks to arrive after numerous phone calls and a letter. even so i was thrilled. its just chance and persistance.
