I am a metal artist and make metal runes and other things associated with runes. It is traditional that runes and the like are kept in a purple bag and it appears that the colour purple has some connection with magic, could someone explain what this connection is.
Runes are (and anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or off in my answer!) little squares usually made of wood or stone that have symbols on them (usually Celtic) and they are tossed and shaken out for divination purposes.
Ratter ... it's considered good practice for a 'rune-reader' to make their own runes.
But, I'm fascinated to see what metal ones are like. Do you sell commercially, or have a website I can look at?
I know you'll get the muppets on here complaining if you post an advert, so if you don't want to you can send me details using the feedback form here ...
Naz, you are right about the rune reader making their own runes but in practice this seldom happens as most rune readers are women, women are not always so keen to make their own runes. My runes are not so much for divination but are mostly runic charms and talisman.
Ok, I will look for contacts up there, I checked out the site you posted but no email contact, just phone and address. I will look into it next week, got a hectic weekend, Sister getting married on Moday. I have made her a steel runic box covered in runic charms, one of my best pieces to date.
Tatty and Kingsway, I assume you are bored being on school holiday, never mind back to school soon, have you come on to this site because you been kicked off Bebo? never mind!!!
Marbling in Harrods? I don't remember you - I had a great deal to do with the marble installation in the Banking Hall and the Fish Display in the Food Hall. Does Gormley ring any bells?
My company managed much of the work in Harrods for 10 years 1982-1992 (when Fayed launched an attack on another client of mine and I no longer wanted Fayed as a client). I remember that in December 1983 the IRA exploded a bomb outside Harrods killing 6 people and injuring about 100 and a few years later there was an IRA bomb in a street rubbish bin also outside which didn't do a lot. I have no recollection of a separate deli section or of bomb damage to it.
