I think perhaps the correct solution to 35d is in fact as given by Aeolus, i.e. Ostracise not ostracism!!

I was stressed because of imminent arrival of 3 grandchildren under 10 including a terrible two.
They have been and gone now and I am still alive to tell the tale if a trifle older.
