I put fricassee but as you say it does not match the clue.
As I was saying in my post below thinking of abandoning Herculis - it's certainly not as good as it used to be!
I'm certainly no culinary expert, but with the letters
FRI-A-S-E it must be what they are looking for. Is this a further example of the downhill trend..............??

Thanks for the responses I wonder if the compiler ever reads this site ????
No other crossword has so many errors and mis-definitions as this one. Can't think why anyone still bothers with it!

It was so good and I like the link between the two (when it works).
Fricassee is sometimes classed as the way the chicken is cut(whole chicken into eight pieces) and not the actual method of cooking. Hope this helps

No don't try and make excuses for the poor clue. You are too nice !!!!
actually, if you look in the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia they give the definition of fricassee as: pieces of chicken or other meat stewed ing ravy with eg. carrots and onions and served with noodles or dumplings

So many mistakes over this summer - have moved to S Ex and MoS - after 35 years allegiance - say no more!
