I`ve just had a telephone call saying they were from Royal Mail. I run a small mail-order business and use a Freepost address in advertising, I also print my own Freepost envelopes for customers to send in their orders. This young lady asked me to verify that I used Freepost service and how many etc. Her tone suggested that she was not from Royal Mail - just a ploy to sell something or some sort of racket. Then she said they were doing a performance survey which meant me sending them a box of printed envelopes, them inserting a tracking chip and returning them to me to use as normal, they then would be able to monitor they length of time the envelope was in the postal system. I told her to put the details in the post and rang off. I contacted Royal Mail who had no knowledge of any such scheme and said it was most likely one of the new competitors trying to get my business. I was able to 1471 their number - it is a fax line. Has anyone else heard of such nonsense?
