Don't know if its right, but my Mum (who was a country girl once!) says the way to tell a Rook from a Crow is that a Rook looks like he is wearing baggy trousers! (Don't blame me, shes from Suffolk and doesn't know any better!!).

Sdds mum may be on to something if you google crow and baggy trousers it refers to a rook.
