I did not even notice the hint...there isn't always one there. Anyway it is....All across solutions are composers whose name can be found from a letter mix spanning words within each clue, either beginning at the beginning of a word, or ending at the end of a word in the clue. e.g. ADJUST GEAR LEVER would give ELGAR.
