No 14. I know it has been asked before, but did anyone know which novel ends with the lines 'and a little light rain came down but nobody cared. It didn't get in the way of the stars?

Thanks for any help

Flora's Lot by Katie Fford was on arts and lit.

smouse, I tried to find this on amazon some time ago but couldn't.
keep looking you will find it.
just put in 'a little light rain came down' on UK amazon
I found it straight away then
Sorry I only repeated what was on A&L, didn't mean to mislead you.
Er--couldn't you just give Jane the answer?
not when its easy to get with what I have given her - lol
smouse - thanks for the tip on how to find book quotes on amazon. It's not quite as easy as you imply.

janeevans - if you go to amazon.co.uk and go to the books section, you can put your quote in the search. It then gives you the option to search inside books. The longer your quote, the less options come up. Put in "and a little light rain came down but nobody cared" and a number of options come up. You need to select "see more references" and then go to the last page.

If you do all this then you will get to:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/reader/0752851667/r ef=sib_aps_ref/202-2218524-6831032?ie=UTF8&key words=a%20little%20light%20rain%20came%20down% 20but%20nobody%20cared&v=search-inside

and then you will know that the answer is Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy
To Ageing Fast: Thanks for your explanation re finding quotes from books using Amazon. I followed your instructions on the UK site and it worked as you said it would, but it didn't work on the Canadian site. Perhaps janeevans is/was not using the UK Amazon site.
Anyway, I thank you for the info. It may be useful to me in other matters of business not related to Abers at all.
