dtgk ... tong/tongs
8 Answers
i have had a message from michael mepham. yes, "tongs" IS an error. it should have been "tong". michael (who sounds just as p*ssed off as we are about all the errors) points out, however, that the telegraph is going through massive change, what with the move from canary wharf to victoria and the swingeing staff cuts, which have not helped matters one bit. he says he is confident things will get better once the paper is bedded down in its new home (although that will be a while yet). i am more than happy to accept what he says.

I'm sure Michael is fed up as he no longer replies to my many emails, when to start with he was most friendly and helpful. I wrote to Val Gilbert after someone on the website mentioned that she was the Crossword Editor. I had a nice reply stating that she no longer bears that title but explained about the many changes going on at the Telegraph. Most of it was above my head but she was most apologetic and said she was sure all the problems would eventually be sorted. I guess we all need a bit more patience despite yet another Price Rise !!!!!
Thanks for this information it probably explains why we have had crosswords for at least the past five weeks which have all been printed before including the errors. They could have at least made an effort to correct these. I still have e-mails from before from them about the missing 44D clue and the mis-spelling of Cheney. Hopefully we will get an original crossword next week.
