17A - Lots admitting little space for projections (6) Think it may be 'TENONS' but don't know why!!

tons = lots, and an 'en' is a small space - the same size as an 'n' in printing.

Mrs Elderly.....it was a bit of a fluke my being so quick. I just happened to check in as your question came up - ( I'm v ill disciplined and tend to dip in and out of this site between paragraphs or when searching for inspiration writing up reports or whatever)....and it helped that I'd actually done this xword so didn't even have to think!

Mr elderly as you may know is more or less house bound these days and spends his time doing xwords. My son sends him azed and it only arrived this morning so he is trying to finish 'Mephisto' and get going on it AND I am no help whatsoever with xwords!!
