A friend send us the following on-line offer from the UK Daily Telegraph. They are offering the following three items:
Crossword Diary 2007
Codewords
Giant General Knowledge Crossword Book.
Total cost 10 sterling plus postage.

Our question. Are any of you familiar with these items and would it be worth our while to send for them?

Hi O-ice saw your earlier post, but have not actually seen the books so I don't know. I would have thought they would be ok. But I don't want to make you spend your money and then you don't think they are worth it. :-)

Thanks Jules. Wondered if the GK Crosswords from the Telegraph were worth while. It's not available here.
Perhaps someone else will know.

No, ontarioice, it was for plants. They came less than half the size advertised, but there was nothing I could do as they were sent to me as a present.

I ordered a lighthouse for the garden (small) i hasten to add, from a Telegraph brochure. I did have to ring up but it did arrive in time for my husbands birthday in the end. I was happy with it and it was about the right price.

If anyone actually does the Telegraph GK crosswords etc., I'd like to hear if they are worth the trip across the Atlantic (not us, the books on sale).

My contribution may be too late, ontarioice. but in case you do check back on this post, this is my experience.
I do the DT General Knowledge each Saturday and Monday. I don't have half the intelligence or the experience of some of the regular Q&P puzzlers, but although I have a raft of reference books I hardly ever use one. I almost always find the answer I need on Google or a missing letters program. The one indispensible aid is a good atlas - a very old one is useful as well as a modern one!

Thank you Aquagility: You're not too late as I always check my threads mainly because of the time difference. I think I will ask Santa to bring the books at Christmas. I could waste the $20 on something or other and not even have a book to puzzle over. I appreciate your help.

Hi O-ice, I've used this old posting of yours to get away from the hustle and bustle of recent AB postings to say how much I have enjoyed our mental jousting over the months. You (and your humour) have proved to be a real asset to AB.
