second one is BROKER
The first one should be something like CHANDLER FENCE or vice versa
I hope you won't mind my asking, but I'm wondering how BROKER fits in with a Christmas carol. "Right against the forest FENCE" I can understand, but Broker?
Muffet (and annielaurie) It is absolutely impossible to set a Thematic Crossword in which EVERY clue follows the declared theme. It's not the same as a "Christmas Carol Quiz"!
You can check it out, but BROKER is the ONLY word that fits your letter pattern ( -r-k-r ). Finally, the Chambers Dictionary defines broker as "a person employed to buy and sell for others."
