Bactrian Camel looks correct - may, as in Brian May (guitarist in pop group Queen): turn = act. Therefore, act in Brian + came for 'got there' + l for lost (a bit convoluted!)

any ideas for 12a - town unexpectedly mends stud for another town (4,2,7) - *u*y *d*u*d*. all i can think is 'bury it.............'! guess stud must be inb last word somewhere, but cannot fathom it!
