plant identification

I am trying to identifie a house plant I was given, it is non flowering, has round plain green leavesabout 2' wide, which are quite sturdy with a white spot where the leaf stalk joins about 1/2' in. would really apreciate it if anyone knows either what it is or where I could find out, I have been searching for ages!!!

looby, its really hard to do this without a picture (how are Andy and Teddy by the way?) My local nursery will identify plants if you take them in, so you could try one near you,also there is a great book called (I think) the house plant spotter or be your own house plant spotter by Alex Hessayon, its very cheap to buy or your library might have a copy
I too, have a plant i want identifying.. here is my plan; if anyone wants a plant, or anything else, identifying, you can join my ABgroup, http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/ABgroup/ [open membership], post a foto of your plant there, in photos section, then i will stick it on front page and experts from AB can go look and report back, they wouldn't even need to log in. Good idea, or what? Actually anyone with a webpage could do this, it's an internet facility that's thin on the ground :-)
