For anyone interested in cryptic crossword compilers, there is an article in today's Times2 about some of those that tax us here on AB - Araucaria, Dimitry, Alaun etc. It is to promote a new book (Xmas present?) written by Azed - aka Jonathan Crowther called 'The A - Z of Crosswords'.

If anyone buys a copy I would be interested to know if it is worth buying!

Hello cheaton, I have just been reading this article and found it very interesting. I wonder how many people complete their crosswords with a gold-nibbed fountain pen as shown? By the way I think the picture is printed the wrong way round unless it is being completed in mirror writing, it also looks to be upside down!! I liked Araucaria's favourite long anagram - very seasonal.

Thanks Argee2 - just had another look and agree it seems to be upside down! Let me know if you buy the book!
