Thanks for all your help folks. I`d wondered about the bath thing with those old queens(!) as I knew I`d heard something in the past but couldn`t recall what it was. I`ll have to look into that further.

In Edinburgh you can visit Queen Mary's Bath House, a 16th century lodge, where it is said she bathed in white wine and goat's milk� twice a year.
Queen Elizabeth the First reeked to such a degree that parliament, who usually tamely followed her will, rebelled once, when they passed an edict that "The Queen must bathe, at least once a year."

They reckon that Francis Drake is said to have made love to her on royal command , but with great difficulty because she stunk so much that he had to hold a posy of herbs to his nose whilst doing the deed..
He must have managed though, because he became SIR Francis soon afterwards....Dirty old lot !!
