Recognition for outstanding Kindness - Help
14 Answers
Does anyone know who I could possibly contact to get my grandparents some kind of award for their amazing kindness and dedication to people. They are 87 and 90 years old, they still deliver meals on wheels for people often 30+ years their junior, they mow the lawns for all their neighbors, they have worked helping the blind weekly for over 30 years, they have raised numerous guide dogs. They are the hub of their community, everyone calls on them if they need plants watering/dogs walking if going on holiday. If there is an emergency in their road, they are the first people anyone contacts despite them being the oldest residents of the road. There is not a day that goes buy when they don't help someone else.
I am not sure if I am biased as they are my grandparents and I think they are the kindest people on the planet, but I really want to get them recognised somehow.
Any ideas?

You could try calling your local newspaper & asking whether they might like to do a feature about about your grandparents....local newspapers often do these kind of good news stories. And, as often happens, the local tv news may pick pick up on it, or you could call them too.

ummm1, they would honestly happily help you. If your anywhere near Manchester, I could put in a good word.
My amazing gran had a hip replacement 2 years ago after a bad fall and is back happily scuttling around now, this summer I met up with them on holiday in Bournmouth, it was a mission to get her away from the air hockey table!!
They are truly absolutely amazing people. A total inspiration.

I think you should try and get them in the honours list. They sound fabulous and certainly have done a lot more than some of the wasters who get honors from the Queen - like June Sarpong!!!
Nominate them on the website. If you put honours list into google it brings up a form you can download to send off their nomination.
They most definitely sound like they deserve the recognition!!
xx:o)
ummmm - my nan's been in a nursing home for nearly 3 years now - she gets visits from Lily Savage and Les Battersby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I might try them as well. I need to first find out all the contact names at the various organisations they help and go from there, I am sure they would write a quick letter to acknowledge their help over the years.
My grandparents live up north and I live down south so I am going to have to do some phoning around this evening! I want to do it all on the quiet so they get a big surprise.

I was asking something similar and was considering the honours list - Corbyloon gave me an excellent link. http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question34 2010.html
