This has been asked before.
I did a little research of my own and came up with a species of petrel, but there are so many of those. I couldn't come up with a specific species, except storm petrel but that most certainly is not an extinct species. Perhaps you could look further down this particular route.

Thank you Ulysses 100 I will try it again with your information
I too have been trying for this one,but if you look at the question closely it says,BELIEVED to have become extinct, and to give a specific date is unusual in itself, all the ones I have looked at only give the year of extinction.
Which Macmillan quiz is this, please?

My Macmillan no. 47 is "I leave Daniel confused" My Macmillan quiz is entitled 'All creatures great & small', is there a second M quiz?

The title of the quiz is. Quizzes for Charity Summer Quiz. To be returned by 31st January.
Hi
Having looked Googled Wikipedia on extinct birds it does mention the Jamaician Petrel:
Possibly a subspecies of the Black-capped Petrel; unconfirmed reports suggest it might survive. Officially classified as critically endangered, possibly extinct.

This species was last collected in 1879, and was searched for without success between 1996 and 2000. However, it cannot yet be classified as extinct because nocturnal petrels are notoriously difficult to record, and it may conceivably occur on Dominica and Guadeloupe.
Don't know whether this helps.
Thank you grandad. I think it is too late for me to send for it now. An unusual title, is it not, or has it been running during last Summer?

I'll know to look out next year/Summer. i am only just into this quiz lark!

Thanks for answering
