Mother continues to soldier on regardless, although little mobility, but younger brother had heart by-pass operation on Friday ... think successful so fingers crossed.

Thanks and hope you are well Kettledrum...Ironic you were the first to answer me after my bad news...and throughout....you have the same Christian name as my sister. It was quite poignant!

It's terribly irritating, isn't it to be cut off in mid flow?
I could hardly believe it when I came upon your news and couldn't bear to think of you and your family's suffering all day. But it's nice to know that you are slowly getting back to your old routine. How are the girls? I think of you often, and now I know that I share a Christian name with your sister I feel we have an extra bond.
Sleep well and I hope to 'see' a lot more of you soon.
Love Kettledrum xx

Sarumite...hope you log on...you usually do check up on postings you've subscribed too.
So sorry I got cut off again.
Sorry to hear your brother is unwell..I do hope all has gone well. It is so difficult at times isn't it...especially when you are a main carer for your mother.
You take care of you..and if anything has been learnt from recent events on this site is that there is so much love and support amongst this family of ours.
I am sure your brother will be just fine...and you will be here to help us all in your usual proficient way.
If you ever feel like a chat...e-mail me at [email protected] anytime...cos I only collect my e-mails once a day!!!...only joking!
Lots of love

Christine and John,
sorry...posting got 'sent' after yours.
goodnight to you both, and thanks so much for everything.
Left my e-mail address for Samurite..feel free if you ever you want to mail.
Kettledrum...you will always be 'special' now...for namesake! The girls are fine, in their own way.
I have 3 girls..2 with special needs. The eldest is 26 with cerebral palsy (mild)..and learning difficulties, the second is 22 with epilepsy and learning difficulties (developing from an accident as a toddler). So in many ways they are children..and very hard work. Our third has no problems and is 18 and has 9 GCSE's and is doing her A levels, but apart from that has a wonderful nature, loves her sisters, and especially is so close to me and is one of my best friends! As she says I am one of hers!
We all make the best of everything...and while all the sadness was happening, it summed it up when we were all down and got a letter from a children's unit we raised money for over Christmas in response to my Hubby's Christmas lights!
Now why I am telling you all this I don't know...but I am going to leave it on anyway...cos that's who I am..and you did ask!! You'll be sorry you did!
Much love to you all...
Pauline xx...hope I haven't gone on too much!!! If I have ignore me!...

Hi Pauline,
Just came upon your thread. Was interested in your visits to the Isle of Man, as I live there when not in Portugal. Thank you for sharing some of your situation with us. And you, too, Sarumite. I was a special needs teacher before I retired, and have great admiration for you parents - so many seem really special people. I was a carer for a short while, too, and again admiration for long term carers is top of my agenda.
Until I joined the Answer Bank I had never had much time for 'chat rooms' etc., but am beginning to see the amazing potential for good there is for people who, for whatever reason, have restrictions on their lives.
Sorry, I'm waffling on but I have been deeply moved these last few days by this caring, sharing family I find myself belonging to.
God bless,
Jackie
