is it my imagination or are there 2 or 3 cryptic clues in this months Generalist ??

I'm not making much sense out of 16a, 17a and 40a, but have pretty much got the rest

Hi Steff

The answer to 16a is a scottish word meaning blocked.

I haven't yet got 17a ?A?T ?A? .... I think it should be a french phrase meaning dais, but could be wrong.

Otherwise have more or less finished except for bottom left which I am now working on!

I've got the same letters for 17a - only fr word for dais I can find is estrade & my Scots is about as good as my FR.
can you tell me if you agree with my letters for 43a
g-i-e-r-e as I'm having fun with that one as well - really it's past my bedtime but I'd love to round it off tonight
