Continuing on from the activities of Saturday this site is available to the first ABer to finish this mornings puzzle and lodge the four Link Words to complete this weeks Game.
Then yours truly will do some quick calculations and hopefully will be able to print the results on this site later today/this evening depending on just where in the world you are.
Naturally the competition will end with the lodging of these four words - I know its early am in the UK so any last minute-ers had better get busy - all the best S
looks as if I am carrying onfrom the MM game still null points!
must try harder
I note that Kate has put all of saturdays words first in the links
MM normally had two at the front and two second
hope somebody won a point or two
cheers
jan
Goodness, I'll have to put the Monday post in earlier to keep up with you Aquagility -but thank you for the links and Congratulations - of course you know you had two correct entries so at the top of the scoring
Aquagility 4 points with Cliff HANGER & Fever PITCH
Next two pointer was crofter @ 8.12 with Clinical TRIAL[S]
We had to wait until 12.37 when Grenmus took out the fourth two-pointer with Government POLICY and he also added another point with Clinical TRIAL taking him to
3 points
then followed ChrisHewat with 3 points also ahead of
crofter with his 2
Dustybun who also scored 2
ahead of quite a number all on one point, in fact thirteen in all.
There were 40 entries in all with 19 entrants scoring one or more points and I think thats a pretty good result.
Interesting that all four words followed on the Saturday clues, and nothing really 'cryptic' so far but the puzzle was quite a challenge and given time, we'll probably see some convoluted pairings coming up
Think thats about all from me for this week and thanks to all for joining in, I've enjoyed it very much cheers for now S
Good girl, Kate! Your straightforward approach has done much for my self respect after so many weeks with a nil return. I guess some of the diehards may have found this week's puzzle lacking in challenge, but give it time, I say.
Yes, yes .. done it again, I am soooooo consistent, yet another duck .. same as in crofter's bun-fight! Should have no trouble getting into the England XI .. and I made you promise not to mention that subject Steff.
Suppose I'll have to accept another well organised effort from down under! Keep up the good work Steff .. and well played aquagility .. was it a straight bat or over the covers for four? ;O)
My sincere congratulations go to Aquagility (4 pts), Grenmus and ChisHewat (both on 3 pts) and fellow conspirator, Dustybun! Clearly this Links Game is different to that of MM - but that would suggest there is a strong case for keeping both active.
Kate is a little constrained in that her words have to fit a crossword grid, but a nice feature is that her chosen link words are definitive.
As for the FRONT/BACK debate, I note that all of Kate's words fit on the back! It is not always possible to split the words 2-2 (in this regard), but I always liked at least to get a 3-1split (either way).
However, I should like say that a special vote of thanks must go to STEFF (aka seekeerz) for the organisation of the postings and the results. It's a task that takes more time than most would imagine. Things will get better over time.
Without her efforts there would be no way that we could operate both Link Games.
Congratulations to the front runners, what a brilliant start.
Aquagility is going to be hard to catch up with--well done.
Thanks Steff for taking over, you are doing a grand job.
Happy to report Pauline that both you and MrPaulineward each scored a point and to save anyone else having to go back and check - perhaps I should have listed everyone who did score so here goes -
slaney, ulysses100, paulineward &Mrpaulineward.
Dinkypuzzled, chriss,JRB,masterchef, Dizzylizzie,cliffyg,
Chiefpanda,burgess3334,Littleowl, Gravit8 and seekeerz each scored one point - 15 in all
Well my showing on both games was abysmal this week. I put it down to the problems I had with the little button mouse on my sons laptop. Well the cursor was dancing about all over the place, how was I supposed to concentrate on picking link words. Well thats my excuse any way. Well done to the front runners in the KM game and thanks to Steff for running it.
Well done, Steph and thanks.
Congrats Aquagility.
I know that you stated that perhaps 'the diehards will find KM's lacking in challenge.' Plu-eeeze it was challenging enough to those of us who scored a big fat zero.
Here we go, cap in hand, back to Sarumite to renew our membership in the loser's club.
Congratulations to all who scored points, or a point. You trashed us this week.
O-ice
Like you Grenmus a PB for me too! Shame I can't replicate the success with the MM Links!! KM must be more on my wavelength! Thanks again to both sets of organisers / setters / markers! It is good fun to complete 2 different sets per weekend.
Welcome back top the FreeFall Club Ont-ice, throw the cap away .. you won't need it in here. It must be your round hic! hic! as you've been away with the high fliers for so long!
I have a cunning plan .. perhaps we could offer membership to any others with " nil points" , on the understanding that they provide the founder members with a round of drinks on each visit.
Who are these founder members?? We know it's just the two of us!! ... Rock on Tommy, as they say (I think??)
Cheers hic hic (S) ;o)
My! My! Sarumite - and the sun not over the yard arm yet (as they say).
I don't think the clubhouse is large enough to accommodate many more members. Perhaps a score could be kept of those who are as consistent as ourselves in the KM puzzle.
Think I'll join you in the "drowning of" once I've finished shovelling away the snow. Must keep sober at such an important undertaking. Elbows will be bent later.
Thank you all for so many kind words. Lets remember that it's entirely the luck of the draw.
I have not answered you individually to avoid cluttering up the site - and because I have a limited vocabulary of polite words.
Goodnight all.
